A useful packaging quote starts with a clear brief. If you are sourcing custom boxes for Malaysia or Singapore, prepare the following information before contacting a manufacturer. It helps suppliers review the same requirements and reduces avoidable back-and-forth.
- Describe the product and packing method
Explain what goes inside the box, how many items are packed together and whether the box is for presentation, shipping or both. Include the packed product weight. A photo of the product can help explain an unusual shape, but measurements are still needed.
- State the internal dimensions Specify length, width and height in millimetres, and label them as internal dimensions. If you only know the product size, say so. Allow the supplier to discuss fitting and protection requirements rather than treating an
estimated size as an approved specification.
- Give the quantity for each design Separate different sizes and printed designs in your request. Ask how quantity affects the quotation and whether setup, tooling or sampling charges are separate. If you expect repeat orders, provide an estimated
reorder pattern without treating it as a confirmed commitment. - Explain the printing requirements Share artwork or describe the intended print areas, colours and finishing. Ask which file format and layout template the supplier needs. Review the agreed specification and any sample arrangements before approving production.
- Include the delivery destination For Malaysia, include the city, postcode and whether the destination is in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah or Sarawak. For Singapore, include the postcode and any receiving restrictions. Tell the supplier if you intend to use your own freight forwarder.
- Compare the complete quotation Ask what is included in the price, which currency is used and how transport and other applicable charges are handled. Review sample timing, production timing and transit timing separately. A lower unit price alone does
not establish the best purchasing option.
